Everton are to battle West Bromwich Albion for Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin in the January transfer window, according to the Telegraph.
The Blues are expected to be busy in January after a disappointing summer window saw Ronald Koeman miss out on several targets.
It is an error the Dutchman appears to be keen to rectify at the earliest opportunity and a move for the United midfielder is reportedly on the cards.
The Frenchman has failed to establish himself in the first team since arriving at Old Trafford last season and has made just two starts in the Premier League under Jose Mourinho.
According to the Telegraph, Ronald Koeman has identified a defensive midfielder as a priority addition for his squad and Schneiderlin is the man he wants.
The report claims that Sporting Director Steve Walsh had identified Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi as a target but he will cost more than £25 million.
The Manchester United man is a more realistic option, with the newspaper citing a £20 million fee for his services and they will push ahead with a move for him instead.
The Blues are not the only one chasing his signature, though; with Tony Pulis and West Bromwich Albion also keen on his services.
However, Koeman has the advantage of having worked with Schneiderlin at Southampton and will surely look to exploit that fact in this tussle.
