Everton are leading the race to sign Charlton youngster Ademola Lookman as they look to bolster their squad in January, according to ESPN.

Several of the Premier League’s top clubs are said to be interested, with Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal all said to be monitoring the youngster but Everton could move first and secure the players signature.

The 19-year-old is said to be one of the best talents in English football and could provide Ronald Koeman’s side with another option up front. The Toffees have struggled in recent weeks to score goals, with key players such as Kevin Mirallas, Gerard Deulofeu and Aaron Lennon not having the desired effect.

With names such as Memphis Depay and Lookman being linked with the club, it is no secret that the Blues’ boss has acknowledged that his attack is not good enough to compete with the clubs at the top of the league.

Everton face Manchester United this Sunday at Goodison and will be hoping they can get back to winning ways after a poor run of form.
