Everton confident of luring Man City target

Walsh continues to reshape backroom team

Barnsley v Everton: Pre-Season Friendly

Everton are reportedly close to luring Man City analyst Laurence Stewart to Goodison Park, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Everton have been looking to recruit an analyst for several months after Steve Brown left for a similar role at Manchester United.

Toffees director of football Steve Walsh worked with Stewart during their time at Hull City and is keen on a reunion on Merseyside.

Walsh has been charged with revamping Everton’s coaching and scouting structure following his arrival from Leicester in the summer.

Stewart has been head of performance analysis at Manchester City since 2014. However, Everton are hopeful they can strike a deal to bring him from the Etihad Stadium given City’s backroom team is being restructured following the arrival of Pep Guardiola.

As well as Man City and Hull, Stewart also travelled with the England team to the 2014 World Cup and was a consultant for the Rugby Football League.

It looks like his arrival would be something of a coup and significantly enhance the backroom team at Finch Farm.
