Left back Leighton Baines remains sidelined despite the best efforts of the Everton medical staff to get him ready for tomorrow’s clash against West Ham United.

During the pre-match press conference yesterday, Ronald Koeman revealed that the veteran is still out, and James McCarthy is also going to miss the game.

"Baines is out and McCarthy is out.

"James has a slight hamstring problem that came after he played for Ireland."

Koeman was furious with the Republic of Ireland coaching staff for playing him in two full games after he had barely recovered from groin surgery, and is very unhappy again with the latest muscle tear.

Muhamed Besic, Matthew Pennington and Tyias Browning are the other long-term injury absentees.

Opponents West Ham United have their own health issues as well, with Gokhan Tore out with a thigh strain. Persistent Everton menace Andy Carroll is out until mid-November with a knee injury while Diafra Sakho could be back next week with a back ailment.

Youngster Sam Byram, who was linked with a move to the Toffees before going to London, is still out for the long-term with a hamstring issue while Arthur Masuaku is also out indefinitely with a knee problem.
