Who’s the best player Barry has played with?

Hint: It’s not Idrissa Gueye, unfortunately

Gareth Barry recently entered the 2017 book of Guinness World Records for the most Premier League starts, so when he tells us who the best player he’s ever lined up alongside, we tend to listen.

Barry has been very good early this season, with Idrissa Gueye complementing him perfectly in Everton’s double-pivot. However, they face their biggest challenge of the season so far on Saturday, traveling to Manchester City to take on Pep Guardiola’s side.

Barry used to play for the Citizens, and his pick for best player is his former colleague and City’s conductor-in-chief David Silva.

“I loved playing with David Silva at City.

“When I received the ball, every time I looked up and he seemed to be acres of space that you could find him in.

“So I enjoyed playing with David Silva.”

The Blues are going to have their work cut out to ensure that Silva is not running free in space, where he does his most dastardly work.

Stars Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne are all carrying knocks but could play this weekend, so Ronald Koeman is going to have to prepare as best as he can for the onslaught at the Etihad.
