The largely forgotten and injured Steven Pienaar finally made it on to the pitch this weekend against Dagenham and Redbridge in the FA Cup match, but it was comments after the match from his business manager that have gotten most of the attention this morning.

After the 2-0 win in which he played 77 minutes before coming off for Leon Osman, Rob Moore made several comments and sounded as if Pienaar would be most interested in signing for his former club Ajax after his current deal runs out.

Pienaar played at Ajax from the age of 19 until leaving five years later. It's an interesting sentiment from the player who has faced some mild transfer rumors this January.

Roberto Martinez commented on him also and said the team wanted to see him play before meeting about a contract extension. To me this sounded like saying all the right things, but that he has no interest in bringing back the soon to be 34-year-old winger. The question was always if he would be sold now or walk at the end of the year.

These comments from Moore throw a bit of a question into everything. Is he determined to go back to Ajax and would Ajax even be willing to sign him? If Everton finds another team willing to pay for Pienaar would he refuse to sign a deal with them?
