Who do Everton play next in the Capital One Cup?

Everton booked their spot in the Fourth Round of the Capital One Cup yesterday, and will wait until the conclusion of tonight's matches to find out who they will be playing next. The Blues are progressing to this round for the first time since 2011, and have had to rely on second half comebacks away from home both times. They found themselves down 0-2 at Barnsley in the Second Round, and then down 0-1 at Reading yesterday, before bouncing back.

The Blues will be hoping to avoid Premier League competition for the third straight time. Manchester City and Leicester City are the in-form teams to avoid that have already confirmed their berths. One of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur will be gone after today, leaving Chelsea and Manchester United as two other teams Toffees would like to avoid this early. An extra leg of the Merseyside Derby would always be welcome too.

The next round will be played on October 26th/27th - an interesting quirk is that Everton play West Bromwich Albion, Liverpool, United and Arsenal in the days leading up to that date, and should the football gods choose to intercede, the Blues could well play one of those teams again.

AFC Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Stoke City are Premier League clubs in the lower half of the table and would be preferred competition. Hull City and Middlesbrough are both Championship sides.

Keep it here as the afternoon progresses and we'll keep you updated as to who's in, who's out and what the draw brings.
