Everton are still chasing a new number 10 before the close of the transfer window reports the Liverpool Echo.

Manager Roberto Martinez has been keen to add a creative midfielder to his ranks all summer, but has so far not been able to secure a deal for one.

The Blues have failed in two bids to sign Andriy Yarmolenko from Dynamo Kiev, with a late bid to secure the Ukrainian over the weekend having failed after his club made a deal almost impossible.

Attention had been turned toward Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Bernard, but a deal was not pursued for the Brazilian despite the rumoured interest as they tried to secure a deal for Yarmolenko.

And with just an hour left of the transfer window, it seems that a loan deal is the more likely option, with them still keen on adding that playmaker to the squad.

Where though he could come from is anybody's guess, with there not being a number of options to choose from at this late stage in the window. Indeed, no deal is the more probably outcome.

Should that be the case, it is easy to anticipate a move into the role for either Gerard Deulofeu or Kevin Mirallas, should a protracted deal for Aaron Lennon be secured at some point.
