The Sky Sports cameras will be in Southport of Wednesday evening, as Liverpool under-21s come to the Merseyrail Community Stadium to take on David Unsworth’s men in the game dubbed the ‘mini-derby’.
The game kicks off at 7pm, and coverage will begin 15 minutes earlier live on Sky Sports 1.
Both teams will be looking to kick-start their seasons after opening losses have left the Merseyside duo propping up the table at the end of Gameweek 1.
Everton and Spurs opened up the new Barclays U21 Premier League season last Monday, but Sam Byrne’s goal was only a consolation as the Londoners put on a comprehensive performance to earn a 4-1 victory.
Liverpool, on the other hand, were edged out by Chelsea at home by a single goal as Tammy Abraham’s stoppage time strike condemned the Reds to a frustrating defeat.
Wednesday’s visitors did the double over Everton last season, winning a closely fought contest at Chester’s Deva Stadium in March before coming from behind just over a month later to take the game 3-1.
