Everton have returned home from Singapore after losing to Arsenal in the Barclays Asia Trophy final. This weekend they're back on the road and heading up to Scotland. The Toffees will take on Heart of Midlothian on Sunday before taking on Dundee FC on Tuesday. Everton should expect another competitive match as they take on the winners of the Scottish Championship who will be looking to take as much momentum into the Scottish Premiership as possible.
Earlier in the week manager Roberto Martinez commented that the two Scottish sides that they will face would present a different challenge than the two Premier League clubs that they played in Singapore and the other clubs they will play against after. Martinez focused on their energy and dynamism and also discussed how they would be playing on top notch pitches in front of what is expected to be a great group of traveling Blues:
"The games we have arranged in Scotland will be against two really dynamic teams who play football with a lot of energy and will present different challenges to the ones we will face against Leeds and Villarreal, our final two games of pre-season."
"Also, the facilities will be excellent in Scotland, with the pitches we have at our disposal and the fact that our fans will be able to come to the games is something that will create that extra excitement because they enjoy travelling and supporting the team - and that support is fantastic wherever we go."
The change in weather back to something that the players are used to should be most welcome. The average mid-day temperatures in Singapore have been in the low 30's C (80's-90's F) range while the weather in Edinburgh is 14-18 C (50's-60's F).
