West Ham Place Bid on Mirallas

Though previously linked with a move to a London club, it's the Hammers who have presented the first bid for the Belgian forward.

Kevin Mirallas has hinted in the past few months that he may want to leave Everton and join a club that is involved in Champions League football. There has been some chatter of a possible exit over the summer but nothing serious has come up. Until now. According to The Mirror, West Ham have approached the Toffees with a £6M bid for the Belgian's services. An interesting development as the London club most often linked with the players has been Tottenham Hotspur. Also interesting, neither club will be playing in the Champions League this coming season though both will be competing in the Europa League.

The offer seems a little low considering Mirallas' offensive skills. Everton are expected to be looking for a fee in the £8M range. For comparison, Transfermrkt has him worth £10.5M as of July 1st. However rumors, fun as always, stared circulating over this past season that Mirallas and manager, Roberto Martinez have had a falling out. It's hard to say if that is true or not. The story of a player and manager having a disagreement is always bound to come out during the transfer window is always a convenient one.

Something that could force Everton's hand in moving the winger would be the fact that he only has one year left on his contract. If the Blue's leadership truly feel like they will not be able to extend his stay in Merseyside, then they will probably want to look at moving him on and getting the best return.

As mentioned above, West Ham could have competition for Mirallas as Spurs have been linked with him for a while now. They are also interested in fellow Blue, James McCarthy who is also supposedly unsettled. Last week reports surfaced that Spurs could be putting together a bid of £23M for both Mirallas and McCarthy. Tottenham may also throw Aaron Lennon into the deal as he has been deemed surplus and did well with Everton on loan the second half of the season.

Mirallas joined Everton from Olympiacos in 2012, coincidentally for a fee of £6M. He's notched 28 goals in 106 appearances in a royal blue shirt. He missed a handful of matches early in the 2014-2015 season with a hamstring injury but still managed to pick up 11 goals and three assists in 36 appearances.
