Everton Announce 2015-16 Squad Numbers

Everton have released the squad numbers for the upcoming 2015-16 season.

There are no real surprises, with new faces Tom Cleverley and Gerard Deulofeu getting #15 & #19 respectively, while John Stones has switched numbers to #5. Many members of the youth sides have also been assigned senior numbers for the first time.

Deulofeu wore #10 the last time he was at the Blues, but that now belongs to Romelu Lukaku. Among some names to have previously worn the #19 that the Spaniard will now don include Stuart Barlow, Marc Hottiger, John Oster, Abel Xavier, Joe Max Moore, Brian McBride, Nuno Valente, Dan Gosling, Magaye Gueye, and Christian Atsu. Not quite legendary company there.

After the departure of long-time Evertonian Sylvain Distin, Cleverley will be taking over the #15 jersey. Previous bearers of the number include Paul Rideout, Matt Jackson, Claus Thomsen, Peter Beagrie, Marco Materazzi, Richard Dunne, Gary Naysmith, Alan Stubbs, Anthony Gardner and Lars Jacobsen. Some famous names in that group, and we can only hope that Cleverley will go on to distinguish himself similarly.
