Everton started pre-season in fine fashion as they beat Swindon 4-0 with an impressive second half performance.
There was little to report from the first half as Everton fielded a strong team from the kick off, with the likes of Phil Jagielka, Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy and Ross Barkley all starting.
Another starter was the returning Gerard Deulofeu and he was easily the Blues standout performer in the first half, as he tested the Swindon keeper' on a number of occasions.
The best chance of the half would fall to Steven Naismith though, who after a nice piece of play from Kone set the Scottish international in only for him to be denied by the goalkeeper.
It would be the second half which saw the goals, courtesy of Belgian duo Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas, with youngster Conor McAleny playing a starring role in all four.
The first came practically from the kick off as McAleny played a delightful ball in for Mirallas, who rounded the keeper' and opened the scoring with ease. Just four minutes later and he would have his second. This time Lukaku raced away and squared across the box for his compatriot, who rounded the keeper' once again.
Those goals took the sting out the game with Everton pretty comfortable from then on out, with the only down point being Muhamed Besic6kop heading off with an apparent hamstring injury.
It would take until the 87th minute for the third to arrive, with McAleny involved again. This time he got himself into the box on the right, pulling it back for Lukaku who took a touch and finished comfortably.
Clearly eager to make a point, McAleny then added his side's fourth in the 90th minute as he collected a pass from Lukaku and fired brilliantly into the bottom corner through the defender's legs.
An impressive second half display from Everton then, with their Belgian duo making their mark and youngster McAleny impressing in his 45-minute display. Carry on that kind of form throughout preseason and it could be an interesting season indeed.
