Everton are set to announce the signing of Tom Cleverley, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The midfielder is reportedly having a medical at the club today after agreeing a five-year-deal with the club earlier in the week, with his wages rumoured to be around the 50k-per-week mark.

He is set to become a free agent once his contract with Manchester United comes to an end, and the Blues have beaten off interest from Aston Villa, where the player spent last season on loan.

Manager Roberto Martinez is thought to be a long-term admirer of the midfielder, having had him on loan while in charge at Wigan Athletic and giving him his first taste of Premier League football five years ago.

He has endured an indifferent last couple of years in both the Premier League and internationally, with fans often criticising both him and his performances.

However, he has been revitalised this season since Tim Sherwood over at Villa Park, scoring against Everton, Manchester City and West Ham in a fine run of form at the end of the season.
