With only two matches left the Toffees will attempt to avoid a losing streak and end this forgettable year on a high note. The Hammers lost 1-0 away to Aston Villa last week and currently sit at tenth to Everton's eleventh in the table. One thing that will add some intrigue to the game is the additional Europa League spot that is on the line. Last week England was awarded and extra slot in the competition due to UEFA's Fair Play system. West Ham and Everton lead in the rankings and the team that finishes higher could be playing in the league next season.
Everton will definitely miss their international left back, Leighton Baines who aggravated a longstanding ankle injury last week and ended up having surgery this week. It's a good time for youngster Luke Garbutt to get some first team action. Depending on his contract situation, this could end up being a short preview of a future Everton staple or it could be the Goodison crowd's chance to see what might have been. In more positive news, Romelu Lukaku will continue his quest to score twenty goals in a season. Currently he sits at nineteen, just one short of the milestone.
