Everton are interested in Marseille defender Nicolas N'Koulou according to the Daily Mail.

The paper claims that manager Roberto Martinez went to scout the player personally on Sunday, as his side took on Monaco in a Ligue 1 clash.

The Blues are reportedly looking to add another defender to their squad having struggled defensively this term, while Sylvain Distin and Antolín Alcaraz look set to leave the club when their contracts expire in the summer.

N'Kolou is highly rated as well, having been part of the squad that on the 2012 Coupe de la Ligue, with Arsenal and Newcastle having scouted him also.

One player, who doesn't look to be arriving at Goodison Park though, is Werder Bremen man Jannik Vestergaard.

The defender had been linked with a move to England, and Everton in particular, but has now rubbished those rumours in an interview with kreiszeitung.de.

"I have no interest. I am super happy here and am looking forward to next season with Werder Bremen.

"I could imagine playing there someday. But if I stay here for the next 10 years, I'm happy."

So then, there's one name to scratch off the likely long list we'll be subjected to in the papers over the summer.
