Everton’s Premier League International Cup quarter-final against Leicester City will take place on Thursday afternoon, according to The Foxes’ official website.

The two teams have been awaiting a date for their clash since David Unsworth’s under-21s secured passage from the group stage – a 1-0 home victory over Sunderland courtesy of a Sylvain Distin header.

Leicester performed well in their group, winning every one of their three matches to secure their place at the top of Group C.

Meanwhile, Everton needed that victory over Sunderland to qualify, after a 1-1 draw with Celtic back in November, followed by a 2-1 reverse against Spanish side Villarreal at Goodison Park two months ago.

The winners of the Leicester/Everton game will join both Fulham and Porto in the next round. Fulham scored an impressive away victory at local rivals Chelsea, while Porto won on the road against Athletic Bilbao.

Thursday’s game has a kick-off time of 2pm at Belvoir Drive, Leicester’s training ground. We, unfortunately, won’t be able to bring you live coverage of the game, but a full match report will be available on Royal Blue Mersey following the conclusion of the tie.
