Brighton & Hove Albion defender Lewis Dunk has attracted the interest of multiple Premier League clubs, namely Everton and could be a summer transfer target according to Liverpool Echo. The 6’ 4" defender is in the midst of a career year with the Championship club, making 33 league appearances and scoring five times in those matches.
West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion are both said to be interested in the young center back, but Everton could likely offer Dunk more playing time due to the possible departures of Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz. Both Distin and Alcaraz have struggled on and off the pitch with injury and bad form plaguing their seasons.
Center back has been one of the many trouble spots for Everton this season. John Stones has been fantastic when playing, but he has battled injuries and suspensions throughout the year. Captain Phil Jagielka has generally been his consistent and composed self, but father time appears to be catching up with the Everton skipper. There appear to be few center backs ready for first-team action in the youth set-up, and Dunk may be the perfect player to have on the team in the event of further injuries or suspensions.
According to Transfermarkt Dunk is valued at £880,000, making this a smart yet affordable move for the Toffees. There are several areas that Everton must improve on during the summer, but defender should be the first thing the team looks at when the season comes to an end.
