Everton under-21s conceded four first half goals as they slumped to a 4-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday afternoon.

It took less than five minutes for the hosts to take the lead through Shaquile Couthirst at Enfield Training Centre. And things went from bad to worse for the young Blues as Spurs increased their lead with two quickfire goals.

Rueben Lameiras added a fourth from the spot, and Everton were unable to offer a reply in the remaining 55 minutes of play.

The visitors welcomed back John Lundstram following his loan spell at Leyton Orient, and a start was also handed to under-18s winger Michael Donohue.

But neither man was able to prevent their side falling to their second loss in three games, and now they have to quickly turn their attention to Thursday’s Premier League International Cup clash against Sunderland at the Merseyrail Community Stadium.

Today’s result sees Spurs shoot up to second in the league, joining leaders Manchester United U21 on 23 points. While Everton slip down to fifth position, and fail to extend the three-point gap over neighbours Liverpool in sixth.
