The trasfer window may be closed, but the rumors are still plentiful

Just because Everton are in the midst of a relegation battle doesn't mean we can't have a bit of fun and see what transfer rumors are floating around. This Everton squad is currently relying on several older players whose best years may be behind them. So let's take a look at what Everton might be up to once the summer transfer window opens.

Tom Cleverly wants to come to Goodison Park

Reports out of the always reliable Mirror are indicating that on-loan midfielder wants to move to Everton once his contract expires at the end of the season and apparently Everton want him too. Cleverley is currently with Aston Villa on a season long loan, having failed to convicne Louis Van Gaal to keep him around with Manchester United. Roberto Martinez is known to be a fan of Cleverley after the midfielder spent a season with Martinez when he was the maanger at Wigan. Despite Martinez's history with Cleverley, Everton should probably pass on this move. They already have several capable central midfielders, and with Mo Besic and Darron Gibson impressing, it would be a shame to take minutes away from them.

Munir El Haddadi on loan from Barcelona?

Much was made of the positive relationship Everton has with Barcelona after the successful loan spell Gerard Deulofeu has with the club. Despite rumors of possible loan moves, Martinez has yet to pick up one of Barcelona's talented youngsters on loan. Well, more rumors have surfaced that Everton may have their eye on forward Munir El Haddadi. The youngster was able to get some playing time early this season, but naturally has found it hard to get minutes behind Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez. El Haddadi would be a good change of pace here to counter the size and strength of Romelu Lukaku and Arouna Kone.

The Barkley to City Rumor That Won't Go Away

Manchester City are still rumored to be interested in signing Ross Barkley. Just when you thought the rumor has gone away, it has resurfaced, but with a lower transfer fee. The original fee for Barkley was placed somewhere around the £50 million area, but recent reports have halved that amount to £25 million. The reported price has no doubt dropped due to Barkley's less than stellar season with the Toffees, but there is still very little chance that Barkley gets sold off. Barkley is still young and Martinez continues to rate the midfielder very highly due to his enormous upside. This rumor may not go away anytime soon, but I just can't see Everton selling off one of their most prized youngsters.
