Currently playing in the National League South of the sixth division the Whitehawk FC of Brighton played Dagenham & Redbridge to a 1-1 draw yesterday and will now face a replay for a chance to move to the third round of the FA cup for a chance to face Everton. That replay game will be played on December 15th at 19:45.
The game will be held at Goodison Park and either team will be a long shot to upset the Toffees, but a non league side like Whitehawk will draw a lot of eyes for the chance to see a small side upset a top league team like the Toffees.
The Whitehawks are in the process of trying to transition the team name and have recently been turned down for renaming to Brighton & Hove City due to a protest by Brighton & Hove Albion. The team has seen modest investment from a long time fan and could be viewing this FA Cup run as a chance to build the team and change the team name as well. Surely just a trip to Liverpool would see the team get more press than they have had and build a case for using the Brighton name.
On the other side Dagenham & Redbridge have been through tougher times lately with a failed one year stay in League one in the 2010-2011 season and a match fixing scandal about their game in 2013 versus AFC Wimbledon.
The third round will be played between January 8 and 11, 2016.
