Everton travel up north for their Boxing Day clash at St. James’ Park against Newcastle – who started the season dreadfully but have suddenly taken seven points from the last nine available.

For the Toffees there are no new injuries to be concerned with following the Leicester City defeat. In fact four players have ‘worked with the group’ according to manager Roberto Martinez.

Steven Pienaar, Phil Jagielka, Bryan Oviedo and James McCarthy have all been involved in some degree of training this week. However, the four will be eased back into full fitness and Martinez said in his pre-match press conference that the four "will play some part in the next seven games over three weeks."

Both Tony Hibbert and Tyias Browning are absent through knee injuries and haven’t been given a timescale for their return.

For the hosts, who have the most injuries in the Premier League currently, striker Papiss Cisse is described as ‘very doubtful’ for today’s game because of a groin injury.

Mike Williamson, Gabriel Obertan and Steven Taylor are all missing through hamstring injuries. While knee injuries keep Massadio Haïdara, Tim Krul and Emmanuel Riviere out of Everton’s visit. Finally, Rolando Aarons is another player on the Newcastle United injury list with an ankle and foot injury.
