Everton will be left to rue their second half malaise earlier today as they let hosts newly-promoted AFC Bournemouth back into the game twice to steal a point. The Blues jumped into a commanding lead once they had settled down in the first half, going up 2-0. Defender Ramiro Funes Mori scored Everton's first goal of the season from a setpiece, and it was his first goal as a Blue as well. Soon after, the Gerard Deulofeu to Romelu Lukaku connection clicked again and the striker whipped home.
However the second half was farcical from Roberto Martinez's men as they barely showed up to play thinking the game was sown up. Bournemouth struck twice in quick succession very late in the game to make it 2-2. Then in the fifth and last minute of added time, Ross Barkley capitalized on goalmouth melee to score what should have been the winner.
Traveling Everton fans mobbed the pitch thinking this was the last action of the game. By the time the crowd was cleared off, there was no knowing how much time ref Kevin Friend was going to add on the clock, and the Cherries bombed straight down the pitch and scored past a flailing dive from Tim Howard.
There will be plenty of fingers pointed after this game as Everton stutter in their march up the table despite having held leads twice.
