Everton made it ten goals in two home games with a sound thrashing of an abject Aston Villa side. The Blues ran out 4-0 winners despite taking their foot off the pedal for long periods of the second half. Both Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku ended up with braces but the hat trick goal proved elusive for the pair.
The Blues front four were irresistible and had the Villa defence tied up in knots for most of the game too. The visitors' left back Kieran Richardson in particular will have recurring nightmares about how thoroughly winger Gerard Deulofeu had the beating of him today.
Barkley had opened the scoring pouncing on a rebound after a save from Deulofeu. Soon after Lukaku got his first of the game too with a diving header from a Seamus Coleman cutback from the byline. Just before halftime Barkley scavenged a second for him after Arouna Kone had done the hard work digging the ball out of a mess of Villa players. Lukaku finished off the scoring finishing neatly from a Deulofeu to Barkley passing movement.
