Everton youngster Tom Davies enjoyed a surprise call up to the England senior squad on Wednesday morning, for their training session at least.

The 17-year-old is part of the England under-17 squad, but because of the senior squad's dwindling numbers, was asked by manager Roy Hodgson to join the senior squad.

And he fully enjoyed the experience; pitting his wits against the likes of Everton teammate Ross Barkley and Raheem Sterling as well as the other established England regulars.

It was a small taste of the big time for the young midfielder, who is yet to make his senior debut for the Everton senior side but has featured in the under-21 side despite his young age.

While it would be amiss to suggest we will be seeing Davies in the Toffees first team any time soon, it does again show the quality of youngsters currently at Goodison Park, demonstrated by Hodgson's willingness to have the 17-year-old train with his stars.

With the likes of John Stones, Ross Barkley, Brendan Galloway and Tyias Browning all enjoying time in the first team this season, the path is certainly there for him to follow.

With this call up to the training session, he has certainly made himself one to watch out for in future.
