The reason the Samuel Eto'o transfer from Everton to Serie A side Sampdoria is taking so long to finalize? Everton forgot to send a document, according to Italian journalist and Bein Sports correspondent Tancredi Palmeri.

So that's what's behind club tweets like this:
UPDATE: @setoo9's transfer to Sampdoria is expected to be completed on Monday: http://t.co/o7zQFuVh2Q #EFC

All that's left to seal this deal is the missing document, and Eto'o should be off the Everton books. As of early Tuesday morning, however, he is still listed as a member of the team on the Everton website.
33-year-old Eto'o made 12 appearances and scored four goals for the Toffees after his acquisition from Chelsea on a free transfer in August of 2014. The Cameroon international is already in Italy with Sampdoria, and attended Sunday's match against Palermo, but is still awaiting a formal introduction. Barring any more document errors, that will happen very soon.
