With things getting worse and worse on the pitch, maybe there is a miracle transfer that can save the season? Sadly, it doesn't look like it, with the boss saying that, " Apart from [Eto'o], I'll be very surprised if there's any major changes."
In:
The Blues have been tenuously linked to Yevhen Konoplyanka, a pacy Ukrainian winger whose contract runs out in the summer. If you recognize the name that its because he was heavily rumoured to be joining Liverpool not so long ago. It is very unlikely that that there is much truth in this, but he may not be too bad if the impossible did happen.
Another slightly out there rumour is the Italian report that is linking us to AC Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy. One of the most highly rated youngsters out there a few years ago, the winger hasn't lived up to his potential in recent years with injuries holding him back. It would be a risk to sign the 22-year-old, but not necessarily the worst idea.
Sadly, yet another former Wigan boy is apparently drawing Roberto Martinez's eye as well. Charles N'Zogbia can't get in to the Aston Villa side, but apparently could come to us. Just no Roberto, just no.
Out:
Samuel Eto'o could finally have his move confirmed in the next couple of days. Having already been seen in the Sampdoria stadium in the team's colours, the former Barcelona man is well and truly gone now.
Another ageing player who could be out the door is Steven Pienaar. David Moyes wants the South African to join him at Real Sociedad, according to the unbelievably unreliable Daily Star. I would be very surprised if this went through, unless his injury is far worse than has been let on.
