Roberto Martinez has revealed that Romelu Lukaku is a doubt for next weekend's trip to West Bromwich Albion.
The striker is nursing a persistent toe problem, and could miss the game at the Hawthorns if Everton decide not to risk his long-term fitness.
He has already missed Belgium's 2-0 win over Australia on Thursday because of the issue and will not feature in their game against Andorra on Monday either. Manager Martinez will monitor him closely before deciding whether or not to take him to face his former club.
Rumours have also been abound on social media that Samuel Eto'o has a hamstring injury which could leave him out for up to six weeks, meaning the Blues could be facing a bit of an injury crisis early on in the campaign, with only Steven Naismith fully fit.
Should that be the case, Martinez may look to young strikers Chris Long or David Henen to fill the gap, all the while hoping Arouna Koné can return to fitness sooner rather than later.
