Everton at Swansea City: Live Gamethread

Best way to forget Sunday, get back on the pitch.

Richard Heathcote

After the fiasco on Sunday, Roberto Martinez will be glad to get back on the pitch and get a chance to forget what happened. Everton travel to Swansea City in the Third Round of the Capital One Cup (aka the League Cup, the one domestic trophy the Toffees have never lifted).

With the Merseyside Derby on Saturday, and the amount of flak Martinez took for his squad rotation on Saturday, we await with bated breath to see who makes the starting lineup (and the bench) for this game. The front four of Samuel Eto'o, Romelu Lukaku and Christian Atsu with Leon Osman behind them showed no chemistry whatsoever, and should be changed out. Expect the fully-fit Darron Gibson and Muhamed Besic to get an outing as well. In defence, John Stones at rightback simply does not work - now does Martinez go back to the tried and tested (and slow too) Tony Hibbert, or will he trust in youth with Tyias Browning?

Swansea City will be rotating their side too - read the Q&A we did with SOS Fanzine as they talk about how their season has been going, and what they are expecting from this game. Click here for the match preview as we look ahead to this game - remember, there are no replays in this competition, so a draw will lead to extra time and then a penalty shootout.

There has been an uptick in chatter about Ross Barkley too, so expect to hear something about this during the game as well.
