Everton started out strong, but couldn't put together a 90-minute effort, and were defeated at home by Crystal Palace. Feel free to share your reactions with us in the comments.
- Z-Cars and here they come, Eto'o and Lukaku both starting today for the Toffees. Everton in home blue, Crystal Palace in away yellow.
- 4' - Great tackle from Distin on the left side to squash a Crystal Palace attack, looks like he has recovered from that dead leg.
- 7' - First chance for Everton! Osman threads in Atsu but he slips a defender and hits side netting.
- GOAL - Lukaku!! Osman with another excellent pass and Lukaku with the clinical finish.
- Everton have controlled possession and that first goal was just a matter of time.
- The Blues have dominated the first 15 minutes with 80% of the possession, it would be nice to get another goal or two before the half and put this one away early.
- 25' - Crystal Palace getting themselves back in the game but have yet to get any good looks at goal.
- Everton are kicking the ball around the midfield. I'd like to see the Lukaku-Eto'o-Atsu combo get some more looks. And just like that Atsu breaks into the 18 and passes to Osman, but his shot is right at the keeper.
- Nightmare. Howard brings down McArthur in the box and Jedinak buries the ensuing penalty. 1-1 at the half-hour mark.
- The Blues need to respond with a goal before halftime. This match has done a 180 and now it's end-to-end ten minutes before the half.
- Remember when this match was fun?
- Atsu just gave that ball away, deflected shot hits the crossbar. Halftime whistle can't blow fast enough.
- HT - Looked like Everton would cruise to victory but it's going to be another nail-biter.
- Stones comes forward, great pass to Eto'o but he is defended well and his shot goes wide.
- Ugh. Howard brought out and Campbell makes it 2-1. Looked bad there. Everton all over the place this half.
- Veterans like Howard, Jagielka, and Distin should be leading this team to victories, but have too often been responsible for ugly moments this season.
- 59' - Lukaku gets a shot on an Atsu cross but it's blocked and Barry skies his effort. Good chance there.
- Naismith and Mirallas on for Stones and Atsu a few minutes past the hour mark. Stones had a good game. Atsu looked dangerous in attack but too often doesn't track back and play defense.
- Bolasie scores and Crystal Palace are most likely leaving Goodison with three points. What a turnaround from the first 20 minutes. Hard to watch.
- About 20 minutes remain but Palace are sitting back and a goal, much less two, looks very difficult now.
- 82' PENALTY - McCarthy brought down. Baines is Baines and it's in the back of the net. Game on!
- Six minutes added on. Can Everton equalize?
- Mirallas kicks the post in frustration, Toffees unlucky the scoreline isn't level right now.
- Crystal Palace nearly go up two goals but the breakaway shot goes wide. Time winding down quickly here.
- Whistle blown. Full time. Evertonians will be sick after that result.
- Everton looks to bounce back Tuesday against Swansea in the League Cup.
