Everton are not putting together a deadline day deal for Porto defender Rolando, according to Sky Sports News reporter Alan Irwin.
The 29-year-old was linked with a late move to Goodison Park after falling out of favour at Porto. The centre back was sent out on loan twice last season to Napoli and Inter and seemingly has no future with his parent club.
With Everton reportedly keen on bolstering their defence after a shaky start to the season at the back, Rolando was believed to be high on their wanted list.
However, reporter Alan Irwin, Sky Sports News' man outside Finch Farm, says he has spoken to sources within the club and they have dismissed those reports.
With the clock ticking towards the deadline it certainly appears this year is not going to come close to the drama we had 12 months ago, when Romelu Lukaku, James McCarthy and Gareth Barry signed on in the last few hours of the window.
But given the deals already done earlier in the summer I don't think Everton fans can complain too much about the club's transfer business should they fail to conclude any deals in the next few hours.
