*UPDATE* The Liverpool Echo have since confirmed that Atsu has agreed to join Everton on-loan subject to a medical early next week.
Everton's wonderful summer appears to have continued with the loan signing of winger Christian Atsu from Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Negotiations between the two clubs have been going on for the past few weeks, with the main sticking point being Chelsea's desire to ensure the Ghana international played regular first-team football while at Goodison Park.
Everton, understandably, were reluctant to offer any guarantees so Chelsea then insisted on having a January recall clause, something that nearly caused the whole deal to collapse.
Both clubs have maintained dialogue though and it seems that an agreement has finally been reached.
Atsu had a number of clubs to choose from, with QPR, West Brom and Swansea all keen, but Everton looks to be his first-choice.
Respected Sky Sports journalist Pete O'Rourke tweeted on Friday confirming that the 22-year-old had decided on a temporary move to Everton.

Manager Roberto Martinez said he wanted to add a winger to his squad and so must be delighted to get Atsu on board before the season opener against Leicester.
The fact he is on-loan will wind some rival supporters up, jealous of the fact we loan players properly and they don't.
With two other loan spaces allowed there is still opportunity to bulk up the squad further before the transfer deadline, something urgently needed given the extra games we will play in Europe this year.
Despite Romelu Lukaku's arrival the squad could do with another striker, with Bill Kenwright confirming on Thursday the club would continue to look for deals up until September 1.
It has been a fantastic summer so far though on the transfer front - and best thing is it looks like it's not over yet
