Everton close on Atsu loan deal

The Daily Mail are reporting that Everton are poised to sign Cristian Atsu on loan from Chelsea. The 22-year-old has been on loan at Vitesse and has garnered interest from a host of clubs after appearing at the World Cup with Ghana.

Last weeks rumors had surfaced that Sunderland were leading the charge to sign the winger, however today Black Cats manager Gus Poyet refuted those reports saying that no deal was presented.

What with Everton completing the £28m signing of Romelu Lukaku yesterday, they are free to bring in another Chelsea player on loan. Atsu is predominantly a left-winger, and would presumably fill the hole left by Gerard Deulofeu returning to Barcelona.

He made 25 appearances while on loan at Vitesse last year, managing to score five goals in the process. He also has 26 appearances and five goals for Ghana since making his debut in 2012.
