Round of 16

Not much has been said about the Swiss up until now. They have made it through their group relatively untouched, with just the one defeat aginst France and two wins against Honduras and Ecuador. However they now face one of the sternest of test against one of the tournament favourites. In the last six meetings Argentina haven't lost - winning four and drawing two - with Lionel Messi scoring a hat-trick in their most recent meeting. Switzerland will be without Steve Von Bergen who picked up and injury against France and Mario Gavranovic who seriously injured his knee in training on Saturday. Argentina have a full squad to chose from.
Expected team news:
Argentina (4-3-3): Romero, Garay, Zabaleta, Rojo, Fernandez, Gago, Di Maria, Mascherano, Lavezzi, Higuain, Messi.
Switzerland (4-4-2): Benaglio, Lichsteiner, Rodriguez, Djourou, Schaer, Inler, Xhaka, Shaqiri, Behrami, Mehmedi, Drmic
USA vs Belgium
Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador
TV coverage UK: ITV1 from 8:30pm
This game has the potential to be the best of the tournament yet. Two teams that are not spoken about as favourites to win the World Cup, but will go close. The USA have carried their fearless attitude right the way through their campaign, escaping from a tough group containing Portugl, Ghana and Germany, and this could prove all so important in a game like this. The all-star Belgium team on the other hand have stuttered somewhat but have yet to slip up, winning their group ahead of Algeria, South Korea and Russia. Not everything has fallen correctly for the Belgians, however they have the team to give a game to anyone left in the competition.
In previous meetings Belgium have been victorious four times with USA winning the other one. The Red Devils will be without Stefan Defour after FIFA confirmed he will receive a one match ban after his two footed tackled in their game against South Korea. Vincent Kompany is also a doubt after he missed training on Sunday with a groin strain. The Americans have no new injury concerns after Jozy Altidore is declared fit to play after missing the group stages.
Expected team news:
Belgium (4-2-3-1): Courtois, Alderweireld, Kompany, Van Buyten, Vermaelen, Witsel, Fellaini, Mertens, E.Hazard, De Bruyne, Lukaku.
USA (4-1-4-1): Howard, Gonzalez, Johnson, Besler, Beasley, Beckerman, Zusi, Bradley, Jones, Davis, Dempsey.
