According to the Daily Express, Everton are among a host of clubs looking to sign Valenica midfielder Ever Banega.
The Argentine looks certain to leave the Spanish side this summer after falling out of favour at the Mestalla. He was sent out on loan Newell's Old Boys in his native Argentina, but failed to improve and missed out on a World Cup place.
According to the report, Everton feel their progress last season and the offer of first team football will convince the midfielder to choose them over other Premier League teams, with Sunderland one of the reported interested parties.
However, they could face competition from abroad in the shape of AC Milan, with new manager Filippo Inzaghi keen to add a midfielder to his squad as replacement for long term injury Riccardo Montolivo.
