Everton interested in Pantilimon

Everton may look to add Manchester City goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon to their ranks.

In one of the stranger rumours doing the rounds, Everton have been linked to goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon.

A few sources, including the Liverpool Echo, have reported that the Romanian could make the move to Goodison Park following his release from champions Manchester City.

The 27 year old made 18 appearances last season, replacing Joe Hart for a widely publicised two-month stint earlier in the season. It is thought that he would be brought in to create more competition for Tim Howard after Joel Robles struggled when called upon last year.

However, Sunderland are also keen to sign the Romanian and will hold talks with him in the next few days, confident of making him their third summer signing of the summer. The fact he is experienced and available on a free is thought to be a big selling point for potential suitors.

In all truth, this is one of those far out rumours that probably won't come to anything and the wages could probably be spent elsewhere. We'll keep an eye on it nonetheless.
