According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Roberto Martinez is lining up a double swoop for Holland pair Bruno Martins Indi and Stefan de Vrij.
Both men currently play their club football for Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie, and starred in their country's impressive demolition of Spain last week. Martins Indi was particularly singled out as having performed impressively.
Everton were reportedly close to signing the defender last year, only for the deal to fall through at the last minute. While Everton are secure at the back with John Stones proving an able deputy for Phil Jagielka, Martinez is keen to increase his squad and find a long-term replacement for evergreen Sylvain Distin.
However, the pair have been linked with moves elsewhere with Lazio recently having a £5m offer for de Vrij rejected and Van Gaal reportedly keen to take them to Manchester United when he takes charge after the World Cup.
