Barcelona's Gerard Deulofeu is reportedly set to spend another season at Everton on loan. According to the Daily Mail,Spanish paper AS is reporting that a deal has been struck between Barcelona and Everton to extend the young Spaniard's loan deal for another season.
The 20-year-old winger had a successful loan stint with the Toffees, though his development was hindered by an injury that kept him out for nearly two months. Before his hamstring injury he looked set to force his way into the starting lineup after several fantastic performances including a 1-1 draw at Arsenal.
Deulofeu made 10 appearances, scoring four goals, for Everton across all competitions this season, despite missing several months with a hamstring injury. The young starlet still has some holes in his game though. He struggled to make an impact early on because of his defensive work. He has a tendency to get stuck far up the pitch and not track back, something that can really hurt on a club where the fullbacks like to get forward.
A second year at Everton will likely give Deulofeu enough experience and steel to return to Barcelona and get some playing time. With Barcelona recently having their transfer ban suspended for the coming summer, the La Liga giants can conduct business as normal and allow their young stars to grow at other clubs.
In other news, expect Arsene Wenger to complain about this loan in 7-8 months.
