Everton to join football world in marking Hillsborough Anniversary

Everton's match at Sunderland on Saturday to kick off late as 25th Anniversary approaches.

Handout

Everton are to join the footballing world in remembering those who lost their lives at the Hillsborough disaster.

All English matches in the Premier League, Football League, Conference and FA Cup this weekend will kick-off late as mark of respect for those who lost their lives at the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Stadium on 15th April 1989.

Teams will hold a minute's silence at 3:06pm - the time the semi-final was called off - with games kicking off at 3:07pm.

The 25th Anniversary also coincides with the start of fresh inquests into the deaths of the 96 following a long battle by the victims' families.

Everton have stood by their city rivals in the years since the disaster and announced plans last month to install a permanent memorial at Goodison Park.

Goodison will also be opened and screen the Hillsborough Memorial Service due to be held at Anfield on Tuesday April 15.

I'm sure Everton fans across the world will take a moment to remember those who went to a football game but never came home ahead of the big match this Saturday.
