Goal.com are reporting that Everton are considering a loan move for Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi.

The report claims that Roberto Martinez had initially been keeping tracks on Al-Habsi with a view to bringing him in on a free transfer in the summer.

However, following the injury to Tim Howard, which will see him miss up to six weeks, the Spaniard may look to bring the Oman international in during the January transfer window instead.

The keeper' has been largely out of favour at Wigan this season, spending time on loan at Bolton in November. That has alerted Everton, as well as other Premier League clubs such as West Ham and Hull City. There may also be interest in Spain from Real Sociedad, now managed by David Moyes.

One potential stumbling block could be the Asian Cup. Al-Habsi is set to feature for Oman in the competition in January, meaning he is unlikely to return to England until the end of the month.
