Everton after Howard replacement in January transfer window

Roberto Martinez has admitted that he may look to sign a new goalkeeper in January.

First choice keeper' Tim Howard was injured in the Boxing Day defeat to Stoke and will now miss up to six weeks with a calf injury.

That leaves the Blues with just number two Joel Robles and two rookie goalkeepers as back up to the Spaniard. That has led to Martinez admitting he may look to bring in a new stopper during the January transfer window.

"It's something we're going to assess," said the Blues boss. "Joel had his first start in the league. I thought he was really calm against Stoke in the second half and against Newcastle, it was a good introduction for him.

"It's something we need to assess. We have just found out about Tim. We're going to make a decision because we've only got Russell Griffiths and Jindrich Stanek as the two young goalkeepers, who have been working with the first team, so we need to assess that in the next few days."
