According to TalkSport Everton head coach Roberto Martinez has begun to work on a loan deal from Barcelona defender Douglas ahead of the January transfer window. Martinez is reportedly interested in the 24-year-old Brazilian as a way to bolster his defense, which has struggled with injuries so far this season.

Douglas joined Barcelona in August from Sao Paulo, signing a five-year deal with the club. He's yet to make an impact at the club having failed to consistently crack Luis Enrique's first team so far this season.

The Toffees had good luck last season with Gerard Deulofeu who spent the season on loan with the club from Barca. If the rumors about Martinez's interest in Douglas are true, hopefully Deulofeu's positive experience will make the Catalan club more inclined to work out a deal.

So what are your thoughts on Douglas and the possibility of him joining Everton in January? In Roberto we trust?
