Injured Baines withdraws from England squad

Another one to add to the list...

Dean Mouhtaropoulos

The English FA have confirmed that Leighton Baines is to miss the upcoming games against Slovenia and Scotland through injury.

Rumour are that the left-back has suffered a hamstring injury in training and will now return to Finch Farm for treatment, though that has not been confirmed by either the FA or Everton as yet.

It is yet another injury blow for Everton after only losing James McCarthy and Gareth Barry to injury against Sunderland last weekend.

The news is also typical of Everton's up and down season, coming on the same day it emerged that Kevin Mirallas has returned to training after a hamstring injury of his own.

Baines now joins McCarthy, Barry, Arouna Kone, Bryan Oviedo, John Stones and Antolin Alcaraz on the injured list.

The severity of the injury is yet to be confirmed, though I imagine that won't take place until the Everton medical team have had their chance to assess Baines at Finch Farm.

Fingers crossed that it is not too serious and Baines will not be on the sidelines too long.
