The Daily Mirror is currently busy linking Everton to young British players, and this time it's West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino.
According to the paper, the Blues could compete with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea for the young forward who has hit the ground running this season.
Berahino has scored seven Premier League goals in just nine games so far this season. That form prompted a call up to the England senior squad last week from manager Roy Hodgson, who obviously worked with Berahino during his time in charge at the Hawthorns.
The young striker has been non-committal on his long-term future at the Baggies though, with him yet to sign a new contract. That has naturally alerted some of the bigger clubs who are looking to sign him on the cheap. Berahino has also fanned the flames by admitting that he aims to play in the Champions League at some point.
Manager Alan Irvine would be loathe to see the striker leave though, and would value him highly, something which may put the forward out of Everton's price range.
