Everton Transfer Rumor: Kwadwo Asamoah

Everton are rumored to be seeking a loan deal for Juventus' Kwadwo Asamoah

Everton are reportedly targeting Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah according to English news site Express.

Reports seem to indicate that Everton and Southampton are the two English clubs interested in the midfielder's services and would seek a loan deal instead of an outright purchase of the player.

Asamoah currently faces competition in left midfield from recent signing Patrice Evra and may see his minutes decrease after the French defender played a full 90 and notched an assist in Juventus' recent league match.

A move for Asamoah would not solve Everton's defensive woes but could inject life into a midfield that has been decimated by injuries in recent weeks. Steven Pienaar rejoined the squad against Manchester United, but has been unable to stay healthy in recent seasons. Kevin Mirallas is expected to miss a few weeks and Ross Barkley is still recovering from a preseason knee injury.

Additionally, Christian Atsu has shown that he is still a very raw talent, despite flashes of brilliance and Aiden McGeady has been largely ineffective to date. Fresh blood in midfield could be just what the team needs and getting Asamoah on a loan deal could prove to be a shrewd and effective move by Roberto Martinez.

Asamoah has been quite versatile in his time with Juventus, playing left midfield, central midfield and left wing back. With Bryan Ovideo expected to miss time after undergoing surgery on his leg, some depth on the left side is crucial as the Toffees look to make a run in the Europa League.

This rumored loan may not be the move that supporters were expecting but it could certainly help the team for the remainder of the season and it could prove to be a low risk, high reward scenario for a struggling Everton squad.
