The sickening injury suffered by Bryan Oviedo at Stevenage on Saturday has sidelined the Costa Rican for at least six months, leaving the Blues short of cover on the left side of defence.
That has sparked rumours Roberto Martinez could revive his interest in Dundee United youngster Andrew Robertson.
Everton have been linked with the 19-year-old for a while and Martinez went to watch him in action for the Scottish Premiership earlier this month.
The youngster was seen very much as a long-term target but Oviedo's serious injury mat well force Martinez's hands and prompt an earlier bid.
The Mirror claims a deal to sign Robertson may be brought forward in order to bolster Everton's injury-hit squad for the second half of the season.
Meanwhile Talksport are claiming that Velios will leave the club before next week's transfer deadline, with a return to Greece looking increasingly likely.
The Greece Under-21 striker made an immediate impact on the first team in 2011 but has struggled to push on since.
He refused to go out on loan in the summer and it appears his attitude is not what is required to succeed at Goodison, failing to make a first-team appearance for more than a year.
AIK Athens have been mentioned as a possible destination, though in truth anywhere will do for a player who has failed to even warm the substitutes bench on regular occasions this season.
Another player on his way out is Jonny Heitinga. The Dutchman snubbed a move to West Ham earlier this month but still looks likely to leave.
Clubs in Italy are rumoured to be interested and a move to Serie A looks most likely in the coming days, saving the club around £1.5million in wages.
