Bryan Oviedo's season is likely over after the Costa Rican defender/winger suffered what appeared to be a broken ankle during the first half of Everton's FA Cup fourth round match against Stevenage on Saturday. There's been no official word from the club yet but Oviedo has reportedly been taken the hospital.

Oviedo suffered the injury after his studs got stuck in the turf while making a sliding tackle. Teammates and Stevenage players alike both immediately began frantically waving for help seconds after Oviedo went to the ground and many seemed dismayed and shocked as he was treated.

A large amount of rain hours before the match caused the pitch to tear up easily and that could have been a factor in the injury.

It's a bitter blow for Oviedo who was on track to play for Costa Rica in this summer's World Cup. It also leaves some issue for Roberto Martinez to deal with as Oviedo was flexible coverage for Leighton Baines at left back and on the wings.
