Rumor: Everton chasing winger Jean Beausejour

There's probably not much to this rumor but it's worth mentioning since the possible departure of Leighton Baines will be looming over the Toffees until the transfer window closes.

According to a rather questionable report on France Football, Everton are prepared to compete with Bordeaux for 29-year-old Wigan winger Jean Beausejour.

With Wigan now relegated it sure feels like every Wigan player been linked with a move to Everton at this point. The one part of this that could actually make some sense is the fact that Beausejour was a regular at left wing back for Martinez and if Baines is possibly on the move -- hopefully not! -- this could be his replacement.

Just in case there's some validity to this, here's some information on Beausejour.

The Chilean winger signed with Birmingham City in 2010 form Club America in Mexico. He struggled in the Premier League at first but after Birmingham was relegated, he found his footing in the Championship and caught Martinez's eye. He joined Wigan in January 2012 and has made 50 appearances for the Latics, scoring one goal.

So to recap, there's probably nothing to this story but just in case, here you go. Any thoughts on the idea of bringing in Beausejour and would he even begin to be a suitable replacement for Baines if the worst should happen?
