For all of you who enjoy asking the question, "Have we [Everton] signed anyone today?", we have an answer for you.
Yes. Yes they did.
BREAKING: Everton confirm signing of striker Arouna Kone from Wigan on three-year deal for undisclosed fee. #EFC
— Official Everton (@Everton) July 8, 2013
News broke last week that Roberto Martinez was chasing his former Wigan striker Arouna Koné and as you can see form the tweet above -- featuring the hideous shield that Everton have been hamstrung with this year -- the deal is done.
We don't know how much the transfer is worth but one assumes a ballpark number will emerge eventually. Koné has signed a three year deal with Everton worth a reported £5 million. The 29-year-old, who scored 11 goals in his first Premier League season, provides both a boost and some much needed competition up front in the attack.
If either Leighton Baines and/or Marouane Fellaini move on during the transfer window, one expects this won't be Martinez's last signing.
