Want To Write For Royal Blue Mersey?

Laurence Griffiths

Have you ever dreamed of writing delicious prose about Everton? Have you ever read an article on Everton and thought you could do better than these knuckleheads spouting nonsense? If so, you are just the kind of person we are looking for at Royal Blue Mersey. We have some grand plans to help expand our coverage of all things Everton, but to do that we need some new writers. I'll get to what some of our plans are in a moment, but first what we are looking for in a candidate.

First we want good writers. I'm not saying you have to have a degree in journalism or English, but being able to write well is a must. We also ask that you fit in with the tone of the blog. We want to provide the best analysis and opinion on Everton that you can find on the internet. We aren't looking for the type of junk you find on Twitter where everyone is moaning and groaning. There is no problem with saying our manager screwed up or these players are bad, but you have to give examples.

Also we are looking for folks from every walk of life. Our writing staff spans 3 continents and includes engineers, sports journalists, soccer coaches, teachers, and everything in between. Just because you are in a different field doesn't mean you won't fit in here.

As for our expanded coverage, we are looking to expand our reserves and youth academy coverage. Everton is known as the School of Science for a reason, and coverage of this area should be essential for Everton sites. We also have a pretty decent Everton Ladies team that we'd like to provide a weekly roundup for during the season.

The biggest area we are looking for though is feature length articles. Anything from statistical analysis to taking a look back at classic matches is fair game. The topics are truly limitless.

As for what you get of this, the ability to show passion for your favorite club. None of us are in this for the money, we don't get paid, but rather because we love Everton and want to get our opinions out there. If you are in journalism and interested in finding a platform for your work, you are more than welcome. Many of SB Nation's paid writing staff got their start working for team-blogs before moving on to bigger roles with the company. It is also a great way to build a portfolio of work for future use.

So clearly you are interested in writing, so to apply just send an email to us at royalbluemerseysbn@gmail.com . and let us know. We will get back in touch for more details. If you have any questions, ask them in the comments or send us an email and we would be more than happy to answer them.
